The Beating Hearts Behind the Food

Varalux “Luk” Hardinger & Sujitra “Pat” Baker born and raised in Thailand, the ladies grew up surrounded by the vibrant flavors and aromas of Thai cuisine. While living in New York they opened Ruay Thai with Luk’s husband and Eugene raised Jeff Hardinger. They honed their signature recipes and perfected their craft to create mouthwatering dishes that will take your taste buds on a journey to Thailand. Their passion for using only the freshest, highest quality ingredients is evident in every dish. Using traditional Thai cooking techniques & ingredients ensures that each bite is bursting with authentic flavor. Whether you’re a long-time fan of Krob Krua or you’re trying it for the first time, Pat & Luk’s innovative and delicious dishes are sure to leave a lasting impression.

The Evolution of Krob Krua

After making the great move to Eugene with their families Pat & Luk realized there are plenty of Thai offerings in the area, but nothing that reminded them of home. They knew just how to change that. When the first hole in the wall iteration of Krob Krua opened up in the basement of Wildcraft Cider Works in 2018 we had no idea just how true that statement was. The popularity of the first location had us bursting at our seams. It was evident early on that we’d need to start seeking out a new location to really be able to serve the community the way we wanted. Five years later we took over the building at 1313 Pearl St. designed by esteemed local architect Nir Pearlson. You may remember it as Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlour from your childhood or more recently La Perla Pizzeria. Starting from just four picnic tables and mostly take-out customers, we now offer a bar, a 50 person dining room, and an outdoor dining patio. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to serve Eugene and the surrounding communities and can’t wait for you to dine with us.
